About the Role
Position Summary
The Hotel Housekeeper is a key member of the housekeeping team responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall presentation of guest rooms and public areas. This role upholds Choice Hotels’ “Commitment to Clean” program and ensures that every guest experiences a comfortable, spotless, and welcoming stay consistent with the Comfort Inn & MainStay Suites brand standards.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities Guest Room Care
Clean, organize, and restock guest rooms according to Choice Hotels brand standards and daily room assignment sheets.
Replace used amenities, linens, and towels; make beds neatly with fresh linens.
Clean bathrooms, mirrors, and fixtures using approved cleaning chemicals and sanitizing procedures.
Empty trash, dust furniture, vacuum floors, and spot-clean walls, windows, and carpets as needed.
Report any maintenance or safety issues immediately to the front desk or maintenance team.
Ensure proper handling and labeling of guest lost & found items.
Public Area Maintenance
Maintain cleanliness of hallways, elevators, stairwells, and public restrooms.
Replenish cleaning carts and storage closets daily with necessary supplies and linens.
Assist with laundry duties as needed (folding, sorting, operating washers and dryers).
Safety & Brand Compliance
Follow all Choice “Commitment to Clean” sanitation and chemical safety protocols.
Comply with OSHA, Choice Hotels, and property safety standards.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately and maintain organized work areas.
Adhere to uniform and grooming standards outlined by Comfort/MainStay Suites.
Teamwork & Communication
Coordinate with front desk and maintenance staff to ensure rooms are ready for new arrivals.
Participate in daily team huddles or housekeeping meetings.
Provide exceptional service if approached by guests and communicate any guest concerns to management.
Qualifications/ Requirements
Qualifications
Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience preferred, but not required.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized cleaning checklists.
Physically able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 30 lbs. throughout shift.
Must be dependable, trustworthy, and able to work independently.
Flexible availability — weekends and holidays may be required.
Friendly, professional demeanor consistent with the Comfort/MainStay Suites guest service culture.
