About the Role
Position: Hotel Houseman
Property: Comfort Inn / MainStay Suites (Choice Hotels)Reports To: Executive Housekeeper / General ManagerStatus: Full-Time or Part-Time
Position Summary
The Houseman plays a critical role in maintaining the overall cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the hotel in accordance with Choice Hotels brand standards. This position supports the housekeeping department by ensuring public areas, back-of-house spaces, and supply operations are maintained to ensure an exceptional guest experience.
The Houseman helps ensure the property consistently meets or exceeds Choice brand cleanliness scores, QA inspections, and guest satisfaction expectations.
Responsibilities
Key ResponsibilitiesPublic Area Maintenance
Clean and maintain all public areas including lobby, hallways, elevators, stairwells, restrooms, fitness center, and guest laundry areas.
Ensure floors are vacuumed, mopped, and free of debris.
Clean glass, mirrors, and entry doors to brand presentation standards.
Remove trash and replace liners in all public areas.
Housekeeping Support
Deliver linens, towels, and supplies to room attendants as needed.
Stock and organize housekeeping closets on each floor.
Collect and transport dirty linens to laundry area.
Assist with moving beds, furniture, and equipment as needed.
Support deep-cleaning projects and preventive maintenance tasks.
Laundry & Supply Management
Assist with folding linens and maintaining organized laundry areas.
Monitor inventory of housekeeping supplies and notify management of shortages.
Ensure carts and storage areas are neat and compliant with brand standards.
Guest Service & Brand Standards
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Greet guests courteously and assist with basic requests when needed.
Respond promptly to guest service calls (extra towels, blankets, etc.).
Follow all Choice Hotels cleanliness and safety protocols.
Safety & Compliance
Follow OSHA safety guidelines and proper chemical handling procedures.
Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damage immediately.
Assist in snow removal, exterior upkeep, and trash removal when required.
Ensure compliance with fire, safety, and health regulations.
Qualifications/ Requirements
Qualifications
Previous hotel or custodial experience preferred but not required.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements
Frequent walking, bending, lifting, and standing.
Ability to push and pull housekeeping carts.
Exposure to cleaning chemicals and commercial equipment.
Performance Expectations
Support property in maintaining passing scores on Choice Hotels QA inspections.
Contribute to positive guest satisfaction survey scores.
Maintain consistent cleanliness and organization in all assigned areas.
